Silicon metal is an industrial purification of elemental silicon, mainly used for the production of silicone, high-purity semiconductor materials and the preparation of special purpose alloys.
(1) Production of silicone rubber, silicone resin, silicone oil and other silicone
Silicone rubber has good elasticity, high temperature resistance, and is used for making medical supplies and high temperature gaskets.
Silicone resin is used in the production of insulating paint, high temperature coatings and so on.
Silicone oil is a kind of oil, its viscosity is very little affected by temperature, used for the production of advanced lubricants, glazing agents, fluid springs, dielectric liquids, etc., can also be processed into colorless transparent liquid, as an advanced waterproof agent sprayed on the surface of buildings.

(2) Manufacture high-purity semiconductors
Modern large-scale integrated circuits are almost all made of high-purity metal silicon, and high-purity metal silicon is the main raw material for the production of optical fiber, it can be said that metal silicon has become the basic pillar industry of the information age.

(3) Alloy preparation
Silicon aluminum alloy is the largest amount of silicon alloy. Silicon aluminum alloy is a strong composite deoxidizer, which can improve the utilization rate of deoxidizer, purify liquid steel and improve the quality of steel by replacing pure aluminum in steelmaking process. Silicon aluminum alloy density is small, low coefficient of thermal expansion, casting performance and anti-wear performance is good, with its casting alloy castings have a high impact resistance and good high pressure compactness, can greatly improve the service life, commonly used in the production of aerospace vehicles and auto parts.
Silicon copper alloy has good welding performance, and is not easy to produce sparks when impacted, with explosion-proof function, can be used to make storage tanks.
Adding silicon to steel to make silicon steel sheet can greatly improve the magnetic conductivity of steel, reduce hysteresis and eddy current loss, and can be used to manufacture the core of transformers and motors to improve the performance of transformers and motors.
